Description King Edward I Reign, 1272-1279. Long cross coinage. Silver Penny, Caterbury mint. Obverse: Legend around crowned facing portrait within inner beaded circle. Legend: EDWA R ANGL DNS YB. (Edward King of England Lord of Ireland). Reverse: Long cross pattée, trefoil of pellets in angles, mint name around. Reads: CIVI TAS CAN TOR (City of Canterbury). Sterling silver: 1.37g, 18.5mm. Catalogue: Spink # 1419, class, 10cf5b. The left-hand arrowhead ornament inclines to the left. The left-hand side flour breaks up during this issue, and is later recut. This example shows this clearly, also of note is damage to the die affecting the letter E in EDWA, and doubled S in TAS on the reverse. Grade: Heavy clip, otherwise Fine.
