Description Taras Shevchenko was a famous Kobza player, poet, prose writer, and artist. The city of Aktau bore his name for a time. Today the city of Fort Shevchenko in Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, which is located on the Mangyshlak peninsula (Cape Tyubkaragan), bears this name.
